The Platelet Immunology Laboratory at McMaster University Medical Centre is the reference laboratory for the Province of Ontario for the investigation of immune-mediated platelet disorders.  Using specialized testing methods, the laboratory provides comprehensive investigations to support the diagnosis and management of immune thrombocytopenia caused by maternal alloantibodies (neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia) and transfusion-related platelet antibodies (post-transfusion purpura).  Testing for heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) and anti-platelet autoantibodies (ITP) is also available.  The Platelet Immunology Laboratory has a history of over 30 years of world-class research and its highly experienced team members include hematologists, a scientist, technical director and technologists with extensive specialized experience.
